Prior to travelling to the USA this week, DeGale invited the 20-year-old to his gym to share some boxing advice and tips with him as the pair had a pads session as well as hitting the heavy bag.
DeGale is a huge Arsenal fan and moved to clear up the confusion over where his allegiance is – as many mistakenly consider him a QPR fan given his cousin, Lee Cook, used to play for the club.
However, the 29-year-old is a regular at the Emirates and will be hoping to return to the stadium next time as a world champion as he takes on Dirrell in Boston for the belt vacated by Carl Froch earlier this year.
The American is considered the slight favourite, but the fight is expected to live up to expectations as the two slick southpaws will both be desperate to end their long wait of holding a world title.
Should DeGale come through this test, it will likely pave the way for a rematch with George Groves in the next 12 months with the Chelsea fan taking on Badou Jack later in the year for the WBC super-middleweight strap.
Based on the evidence of the video below, Bellerin certainly enjoyed switching sports for the day and will hope to see DeGale realise his dream on Saturday night.
