The 30-year-old has earned a reputation for his theatrics over the years, as reported by The Daily Mail, and he did himself no favours with his latest tumble to the ground after looking for the foul and leaving his leg dangling to initiate contact.
Aside from that incident, the former Aston Villa star was crucial in United’s play despite being deployed as a right back by Louis van Gaal.
While he worked tirelessly defensively, he combined that with being a threat down the right flank to add width to the home side’s play which also allowed them to stretch the CSKA defensive line.
Despite looking as though it may be another frustrating night for the Red Devils, they were able to avoid a fourth consecutive goalless draw with Wayne Rooney striking late on to seal all three points which also moved them to the top of their Champions League group.
Nevertheless, Young’s dive undoubtedly emerged as one of the talking points of the game and it is just the latest example of his habit of attempting to mislead the officials.
While he won’t face the threat of retrospective action, it does raise the question again as to how officials and the governing bodies can stamp this type of play out of the game, while it is also a blow for those that suggest that foreign players have been guilty of bringing it to the Premier League.
It is unlikely that Van Gaal will be too concerned with it given that he has previously defended his player, as The Daily Mail has also reported, but Young may come under pressure from those outside the club again.
