Brendan Rodgers seems to have an impersonator. Although not the best Northern Irish accent that we’ve ever heard, there was one person that believed him.
Christian Benteke’s agent, Kismet Eris, picked up his phone and thought that the Liverpool manager himself was calling to discuss acquiring Eris. And he believed every second of it.
In the phone call, Eris confirms that Benteke will do “everything legally possible” to leave Aston Villa this summer because he wants to play European football-showing how desperate the 24-year-old striker is to get out of his current contract.
Despite the hilarious prank and it’s success, Eris would not speculate on the rumored £32.5 million release clause. He did admit though that Benteke “would not sign a new contract”.
At the end of the video, the agent also confirms that no other clubs are looking to bid for the Belgian thus far.
Liverpool has had its eye on the striker, but has not made any real reported moves for him. And if the release clause price rumor turns out to be true, then no teams will want to make the move.
Watch the video below, would you have believed the prankster?
