A patient Fiorentina earned victory over Atalanta in Serie A with second half goals from David Pizarro and Marcelo Larrondo.
Fiorentina maintained their impressive charge for Europe with a fine away victory over Atalanta in Serie A.
The match was not expected to be easy for I Viola, with Atalanta having spectacularly beaten Inter Milan in their previous fixture, but Fiorentina played well and deserved their victory.
They opened the scoring after an hour through David Pizarro, who slotted in a penalty after Guglielmo Stendardo handballed in the box.
From then on, Fiorentina were in control, and able to pick Atalanta off on the counterattack when the hosts attempted to salvage a point.
Marcelo Larrondo smashed an impressive finish in at the near post on the left hand side after being put through on goal by Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
In the closing stages, Atalanta lost their discipline, with German Denis seeing red for a horrific tackle on Pizarro.
