Spurs squeeze past Atlanta without star point guard.
In the absence of Tony Parker, veteran Tim Duncan stepped up for the San Antonio Spurs in their 99-97 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Duncan scored 31 points on 12-for-21 shooting, while also grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking four shots as the Spurs held on for victory.
Kawhi Leonard added 23 points on a night where the rest of the Spurs roster struggled to get their game going, but by moving to 57-20 for the season, they put some breathing space between themselves and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
John Jenkins came off the bench to lead the Hawks in scoring with 23 points, while Mike Scott added 22 points and six rebounds.
However, Atlanta return home empty-handed as they failed to move closer toward the Chicago Bulls in fifth spot in the Eastern Conference.
They will hope to do better in Philadelphia on Wednesday, while the Spurs are in Denver to face the Nuggets.
