The Melbourne Cup-winning jockey lost his pants as he cracked the whip on Miss Royale in an effort to chase down race leader Defender and gave his rivals a clear view of his rear end.
It wasn’t to be for Shinn, who’s loss of clothing was compounded with the loss of the race.
Shinn took the events well however, posting on Twitter: “Now I know how Jen Hawkins feels. Tried to give my fellow jocks a bum steer but unfortunately backfired. Should of had my @BondsAus on.”

It was only appropriate then that a horse named Modesty finished in third.
Shinn finished the day on a high note as he rode Eisenhower to a win in the TAB Place Multi Handicap.
