Australian Lyon still in consideration for third India Test.
Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon was unceremoniously dumped from the test team after a humiliating loss to India in the first Test.
Lyon’s bowling figures of 3-215 (with only one maiden in 47 overs) and 1-29 on a dustbowl pitch in Chennai were equal second worst of any Australian test bowler.
The 25-year-old was replaced by back-up spinner Xavier Doherty for the second Test but after another demoralising defeat against India, Lyon may be recalled for the third five-day match.
Australian cricket coach Mickey Arthur has called on Lyon to work on technical issues with his bowling action. The third Test hopeful has responded saying he hasn’t changed his technique since he was 16 and doesn’t intend to start now.
Lyon was disappointed to sit out the second test but believes the team has learned from their mistakes in the first two Tests.
Talking with Stuart McGill and Shane Warne after the first Test has been part of the preparation process for the Australian, who has still been training with the test team in India.
