Harbaugh left unimpressed at lack of top speed as time could hurt Te’os draft stock.
One shake of the head was all it took for the media to see the impression Manti Te’o left of John Harbaugh, after his pedestrian 40 yard dash time of 4.81 seconds.
With Ray Lewis retiring, the Ravens need to fill the middle linebacker position from the draft, and Te’o was slated to be top of the watch-list for Baltimore at the combine.
However with this very slow time, and the clear displeasure from Harbaugh may now suggest the Ravens will look to someone else.
Te’o needed to impress in front of the scouts after a torrid few months, including an abysmal time in the National Championship game, as well as the whole Lennay Kekua scandal.
Attention will now be drawn to Te’os pro day, where undoubtedly he will need to seriously impress Harbaugh and the other coaches who are keeping a close eye on him, if he wants to stay inside the first round.
Another showing like this however, and maybe his name won’t get mentioned at all on the first day of the draft.
