Bayern Munich moved 15 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga after easily overcoming Schalke04 4-0, with David Alaba grabbing a brace for the Bavarians.
Meanwhile, closest rivals and defending champions Borussia Dortmund were surprisingly thrashed 4-1 at home by Hamburg.
Missing a number of injured players and having recorded only one win in their last nine games, a trip to Munich was probably not what Schalke might have most hoped for on Saturday.
The visitors didn’t help themselves when Marco Hoger’s challenge on Franck Ribery gifted Bayern an early opening – David Alaba converted the resulting penalty in the 19th minute.
A superb Bastian Schweinsteiger free-kick doubled the advantage after 32 minutes.
Bayern increased their lead six minutes after the restart through Alaba.

A good start for Borussia Dortmund at home to HSV Hamburg, Robert Lewandowski putting the hosts ahead in just the 17th minute.
However, a minute after Lewandowski’s strike, Artjoms Rudnevs equalised.
Hamburg took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to a fine goal from Son Heung-min.
Hamburg extended their lead when Rudnevs headed past Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller.
And a 4-1 victory was completed in the 89th minute when Son scored his second of the match.
Borussia Moenchengladbach took the lead at home against Bayer Leverkusen through Martin Stranzl.
Sidney Sam levelled the scores in the 52nd minute.
The ‘foals’ regained the lead in the 59th minute with Juan Arango finding Luuk de Jong.
A minute later and Stefan Kiessling’s 100th Bundesliga goal made it 2-2.
The visitors took the lead for the first time in the 64th minute with Gonzalo Castro freeing Andreas Schuerrle, who finished calmly.
But ‘Gladbach found an 86th-minute equaliser, via Patrick Herrmann.
A point rescued against a Leverkusen side which remains unbeaten in Moenchengladbach since 1989.
