Quarterback Russell Wilson completed his first pass of the game with a 44-yard pass to wide receiver Chris Matthews, who caught his first NFL pass at the best time possible.
Matthews became a hero for the Seahawks in the NFC Championship by recovering their onside kick, and he helped set up Lynch, who mauled the Patriots defenders at the goal line for a three-yard touchdown run.
