Bermane Stiverne and Deontay Wilder came face-to-face on Thursday ahead of their WBC world heavyweight title fight in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Wilder has made no secret of his desire to finally end the USA’s wait for a heavyweight champion, and he has promised the fans a show when he gets in the ring with his rival.
The pair continued to exchange verbals during the press conference with both predicting a brutal bout, and it is clear that there is genuine animosity between them after months of trash talk.
While critics continue to question the level of opposition that Wilder has faced previously, he will hope that Saturday night puts an end to the questions as he steps up to his toughest test yet.
The unbeaten American has a 32-0 record, all wins coming by way of knockout, and he has yet to be pushed beyond the fourth round of a fight. He will likely have to dig deep on Saturday night as many experts and former boxers are suggesting that unless he claims a KO early, this is Stiverne’s fight as he looks to drag it out into the later rounds.
Nevertheless, despite all the talk and anticipation, Wilder has a significant height and reach advantage over his opponent and he will look to use his athleticism, speed and frightening power to fulfil his dream of becoming heavyweight champion of the world.
