Lyon recovered well from their Europa League defeat at Tottenham with a thumping 4-0 win in Bordeaux on Sunday, sounding a warning shot to league leaders PSG and Spurs ahead of the return leg on Thursday.
Academy graduate Clément Grenier led the charge and opening the scoring with OL’s first chance, despite Bordeaux’s early domination in midfield.
Lisandro Lopez and Bafétimbi Gomis were replaced by youngsters Rachid Ghezzal and Jordan Ferri respectively – and when Gueïda Fofana beat Cédric Carrasso with a sublime curling shot from outside the area, OL ran away with the match.
When Julien Faubert, who had performed so well on debut against Dynamo, clattered into Fofana in the area, Grenier completed his double from the spot and Alexandre Lacazette completed the scoring in the record-breaking win with a deft angled finish from the edge of the area.
