Montpellier HSC rued a shocking start to their match against FC Girondins de Bordeaux in Ligue 1 and lost the match altogether.
FC Girondins de Bordeaux defeated Montpellier HSC in Ligue 1 in a thrilling encounter.
The away side started the match woefully, and only appeared to wake up after half an hour of play.
By that stage, they had already gone three goals down through Ludovic Sane, Cheick Diabate and Jaroslav Plasil, and faced an enormous uphill task to get anything from the match.
They began to believe with a goal in first half stoppage time from Remy Cabella, but were immediately pegged back again by Henri Saivet’s strike.
Benjamin Stambouli’s goal in injury time for Montpellier came all too late for last season’s champions, and the club could well miss out on Europe altogether.
