Bruins seal thrilling Game 7 win in overtime to advance past the Leafs.
Trailing by three goals in the third period, and they by two with just 90 seconds remaining in the game, the Boston Bruins staged an incredible comeback on Monday night to seal their place in the next round of the NHL Playoffs.
Two goals in 31 seconds tied the game, before Patrice Bergeron’s goal in overtime secured a 5-4 win in Game 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Tuukka Rask stopped 24 shots for the Bruins, who led this series 3-1 before being pegged back by Toronto who tied the series with consecutive wins ahead of Monday night’s decider.
However, the thrilling climax to this series sees Boston face the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, with Game 1 and 2 being played at the TD Garden on Thursday and Saturday respectively.
While the Leafs must deal with the heartbreak of both being eliminated and the circumstances in which it happened, Boston must now compose themselves and prepare for what will undoubtedly be another entertaining series.
