Fury helping plot Joshua downfall: Johnson training with Fury camp.
Johnson had plenty to say this week in the build-up to the fight as he insisted that his rival had “no power” and was a “media hype job” and was adamant that he would be able to spring a huge surprise.
The experienced American had been training with Peter Fury and had never previously been stopped in his career, but Joshua had plans to change that as he immediately went on the attack in the first round and ended it with a flurry.
After a devastating combination of punches left Johnson in a heap on the canvas as the bell sounded, ‘Kingpin’ somehow managed to get to his feet and get back to his stool to regroup.
However, it didn’t last much longer as Joshua continued to land at will with his opponent covering up as much as possible on the ropes before the referee was forced to jump in and stop the bout.
Promoter Eddie Hearn promised the fans a huge fight on September 12 back at the O2 and it remains to be seen who will be next on the British heavyweight’s hitlist.
