The Brazilian was able to last until the second round as Joshua was seemingly happy to get some rounds under his belt and was patient in his work.
However, as soon as the opening was there, the Olympic gold medallist connected with a brutal right hand which sent his opponent to the canvas where he was unable to get up.
It was another impressive performance from the 25-year-old, but he will now be prepared for his first real test on May 30 when he faces experienced American heavyweight Kevin Johnson.
The pair went head-to-head in the ring after the fight and shared an exchange of words with Joshua wishing his rival good luck for the bout, while Johnson insisted that he has the antidote to inflict a first loss on the Brit and is confident that the fight won’t go the distance.
While that fight is now just two weeks away, Joshua continued to prove his skill and power and ticked off yet another city in the UK with an emphatic victory.
