Both fighters made the weight comfortably as they will now count the hours down to their British super-middleweight title fight that has attracted significant attention since it was announced.
Smith tipped the scales at 11st 13lbs 5oz, while his rival came in just two ounces lighter as they avoided any last-day drama to now settle their rivalry.
With many tipping this to be a Fight of the Year contender, the excitement continues to grow as both men put their unbeaten records on the line in a bid to continue their ascent up the rankings with the ultimate objective of fighting for a world title in 2016.
Meanwhile, Smith has the opportunity to create history by becoming the fourth member of the same family to win the British title, with brothers Paul, Liam and Stephen all winning the strap in their respective weight divisions previously.
The fight has also taken on an added spice given the war of words between the two trainers, and Joe Gallagher and Oliver Harrison exchanged a few more pleasantries after their fighters had broken off from their head-to-head.
As a result, it all builds up nicely to the main event on Saturday night, although the likes of Ricky Burns and Scott Cardle are also in action and will hope to secure wins for themselves before sitting down to enjoy Smith vs Fielding with a packed out Echo Arena.
