‘Mundo’ will be looking to make it 17 wins in 17 professional fights in his hometown on Friday, with Rebrasse returning to England after losing to George Groves last year.
Smith will undoubtedly hope to put on a show and produce a better winning performance than Groves did against the Frenchman as he eyes a possible title shot against his fellow Brit in the near future.
However, the ‘Saint’ still has to defeat Badou Jack in their title clash for the WBC strap later this year, and Smith insists that he is aiming to win the belt regardless of who he has to face to get it.
Nevertheless, it should be an exciting night of boxing on Friday with the likes of Tony Bellew and Rocky Fielding also featuring on the bill, and it promises to be another great atmosphere with so many home fighters in action.
Smith will be hopeful of stealing the show as he closes in on a world title shot in the coming months, but with such expectation on his shoulders, it remains to be seen whether or not he steps up and delivers or struggles with the step up in level of opposition.
