Still fresh from his win over Manny Pacquiao in a bout that was billed the ‘richest fight in boxing history’, the unbeaten superstar is clearly enjoying himself ahead of what is expected to be his final fight in September.
The 38-year-old is a basketball fan and regularly attends NBA games, and he decided to head to Oakland on Wednesday night for Game 5 of the Western Conference semi-finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies.
Now this is nothing new for ‘Money’ as he has played up to his villain role for years which has ultimately played a significant part in his success, and he appeared to enjoy the reception that he received as the Oracle Arena booed him when he appeared on the big screen.
Mayweather immediately started laughing as he realised he was on the screen and stood to clap the fans for their reception before continuing to find the whole experience hilarious with his entourage.
It is likely that he would get the same reception wherever he goes, but there is also no denying that sales of his ‘Money Team’ merchandise would be a huge indicator of the how much support he also has around the world.
According to recent figures released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Mayweather vs Pacquiao on May 2 generated just under $500m in revenue in the USA alone with overseas PPV numbers expected to ensure that it exceeds all expectations.
