Arum says no ‘hard deadline’ on Mayweather-Pacquiao talks: Talks will continue until agreement one way or another.
Floyd Mayweather has continued to release further details of his meeting with Manny Pacquiao after leaking a short clip of their talks on social media.
In the clip, Mayweather insists that he respects his rival given the great career that he has had, but he adds that the boxing world needs their fight to happen before they walk away from the sport.
This is the first real direct indication that Mayweather is pushing for the fight with his critics previously suggesting that he was potentially ducking Pacquiao.
However, while this can also be interpreted as a PR move, it is another reason to be positive that the pair will eventually reach an agreement on a bout.
Pacquiao has insisted that he has agreed to a 60-40 purse split in favour of Mayweather, as well as the drug-testing protocol, the venue, date and various other aspects of fight night.
Meanwhile, promoter Bob Arum sounded confident earlier in the week that HBO and Showtime would reach a deal on a joint pay-per-view telecast as we edge closer and closer to the fight being announced.
Nevertheless, given that this fight has been touted for almost six years, it is worth waiting until Mayweather makes it absolutely official with an announcement on social media networks.
