Brook secured a fourth round TKO win over Jo Jo Dan in Sheffield, with the Canadian’s corner waving off the fight after he took a hard left hook at the bell.
While he failed to come out for the fifth, Brook capped off a memorable night as he returned to his hometown as a champion and delivered a statement.
The victory confirmed that on May 3 there will be two champions in the welterweight division, with Brook standing alongside either Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao after the conclusion of their rivalry at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
A clash with either of those two superstars appears possible further down the line, but it is clear who Brook and promoter Eddie Hearn want next as they responded to questions after the fight and called out Khan.
Hearn revealed that June 13 is a date pencilled in for Wembley, while the Sheffield crowd cheered in support for the pair of fighters to settle their rivalry.
Whether or not the bout is made remains to be seen as Khan has continuously ruled it out for various reasons, but with a title and a significant pay day added to the mix, he may well be forced to change his mind sooner rather than later.
