Manny Pacquiao has insisted that he believes rival Floyd Mayweather is “scared to lose”, and that is why he hasn’t signed the contract to fight him yet.
In an interview with ESPN The Magazine’s Sam Alipour, Pacquiao again reiterated that he has agreed to terms to the fight which include a 60-40 purse split in favour of his opponent, along with the drug-testing plan set out by Mayweather and the venue and date.
However, the Filipino has heard nothing back from the Mayweather camp and he is still waiting for them to sign the contract to confirm that the fight will happen.
When asked for his opinion on why Mayweather has not yet signed off on the deal, Pacquiao suggested that he is perhaps “scared to lose” as the American is still unbeaten and could be protecting his ‘0’.
The general belief is that Mayweather is ducking Pacquiao despite negotiations advancing, although the 37-year-old responded on Tuesday and insisted that his rival has “no say so” in talks as his boss is Bob Arum.
Mayweather insists that it is Arum who is the problem in negotiations and much to the dismay of fans around the world, he dismissed reports that they were close to agreeing on a deal.
