Oscar De La Hoya has insisted that the Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight “must happen” for the sake of boxing and the fans.
After years of speculation, talk and ultimately disappointment, the pair are said to be possibly set to finally meet in the ring in 2015.
However, as always there are various factors to overcome before that becomes a reality as Mayweather continues to taunt his rival on social media without insisting on the fight happening.
Pacquiao has consistently told reporters that he is ready to fight his rival next year, but there has been no such response from the unbeaten American to this point. Nevertheless, he has previously insisted that he would be happy to fight Pac-Man.
While their exchanges continues, De La Hoya discussed various potential fights in 2015 ahead of Amir Khan’s bout with Devon Alexander in Las Vegas this weekend, and he believes it will be an exciting year for the welterweight division with so many top talents in the mix.
