Porter has been scheduled to face Garcia, but after the latter’s failure to show at the weigh-in on Friday, Bone was drafted in and was unable to cope with the American’s brute force after making a decent start to the bout.
Much of the action took place on the inside where the American star was able to rough-house his opponent and land some big shots, while Bone also suffered a slip and appeared to injure his ankle.
Porter ended the action in the fifth as some heavy body shots were followed up by three big hits to the head which sent his opponent stumbling to the canvas and the fight was waved off as he was unable to continue.
The former IBF welterweight champion saw his record improve to 25-1-1 (16 KO), and he will undoubtedly be targeting a rematch with Kell Brook after the British ace took his title off him in California last August.
It was another successful night for the ‘Premier Boxing Champions’ series, and there were early whispers of Porter potentially taking on fellow Al Haymon fighter, Keith Thurman, at some stage in the future.
