The Brumbies snared a Super Rugby finals berth with a 47-25 victory over a sorry Force outfit, ending the Perth-based franchise’s hopes of a maiden finals appearance.
Despite both sitting on 44 competition points, the Brumbies climb into fourth ahead of the Chiefs, who secured their playoffs spot earlier on Friday night, courtesy of the bonus point and a superior number of victories over the course of the season.
Matt Toomua finished with a hat-trick and scored the game’s first points when he crossed after just five minutes.
Toomua was huge in his first game back since picking up a groin injury against France, providing the backline with direction severely lacking against the Waratahs.
