Canada suffered an embarrassing defeat in their opening game of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, losing 1-0 to minnows Martinique.
A stoppage time winner from Fabrice Reuperne gave Martinique, a country owned by France with a population of little over 400,000, a famous victory.
The Canadian team are currently ranked 88th in the FIFA rankings, while their opponents are considered such minnows that they won’t be given full membership by the world governing body.
There was also a shock in the other group A game, as tournament favourites Mexico were stunned 2-1 by Panama.
