Carlton have seen off a brave fight back from Brisbane Lions to claim a 13-point win at the Gabba.
The Lions held a surprise lead at half-time after the Blues got the jump on them early, but Carlton regained the lead early in the second half and held on for the the 13.20 (98) to 12.13 (85) win.
Jarrad Waite and Kane Lucas kicked three goals each, while Chris Judd had 26 possessions for the Blues.
Rohan Bewick kicked three goals for the Lions and Simon Black finished with 22 touches.
