Catania lost to Inter Milan at home in Serie A by a single strike in a five goal thriller.
Despite a valiant effort, Catania were beaten 2-3 at home by Internazionale in Serie A.
In truth, the home side were gifted the opening two goals, with astonishing lapses in defence from the Nerrazzuri.
First Juan Jesus dallied on the ball to allow Gonzalo Bergessio to steal in, and soon afterwards Giovanni Marchese was left totally unmarked to head home a set play.
2-0 down at half time and Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni knew he needed to make changes.
He made two – Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Tommaso Rocchi were removed at the break, with Dejan Stankovic and Rodrigo Palacio replacing them.
Inter then were able to demonstrate their superiority, with three second half goals through Ricardo Alvarez and a Palacio brace.
The changes worked a treat, but no one will have any illusions – the Nerrazzuri are not the team they were mere seasons ago.
