Long-time adversaries square off in hilarious interview.
Love him or hate him, but fans of the UFC have to admit Chael Sonnen is funny.
The middleweight and light-heavyweight top 10 fighter was wearing the other hat in his life, that being as part of the MMA media, when he faced off with long-time adversary Anderson Silva.
Sonnen famously launched several stunning tirades at Silva before their two bouts, mocking Silva, his family and his country.
But the serious turned to humorous when Sonnen was joined by Kenny Florian to preview Silva’s title defence against Chris Weidman this weekend at UFC 162.
Sonnen started by asking Silva what he thought about Georges St-Pierre saying he will lose, to which the champ replied “who, huh”, before saying he respected all of the champions in the UFC.
If Silva is able to beat Weidman this weekend attention to a possible super fight against Jon Jones or St-Pierre will be intense.
However, Silva said he does not play on going up or down in weight class to fight either, despite in the past expressing his desire to test himself against the UFC has to offer.
“I have plans for my class, I don’t have the big goal to change my class, I have my belt in my class and my story in my class, that’s it,” Silva said.
Once the serious questions were out of the way, the Sonnen we all know and some MMA fans love, came into view.
Sonnen fired off such questions as how much money in his pocket before asking if he was a worse fighter than Steven Seagal, Silva’s close friend and master, was an actor.
The ‘American Gangster’ kept the up the hilarity when he asked if he could meet up with Silva for a 4th of July barbeque and if he could bring St-Pierre with him.
Finally the icing on the cake by Sonnen: “If I promise I won’t cheat and I won’t quit when I’m not hurt will you fight me one more time?”.
To which the champ replied: “of course”.
