It seems that the future would be bright for Chelsea should any of their youth team graduates actually make it into the senior side, but for the time being they will stick with their expensive international elite.

However, following the club’s 1-0 victory over Premier League strugglers, their younger side managed to pick up some silverware by becoming the UEFA under-19 European Champions.
Beating Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2, thew scoring was opened by highly-rated forward Izzy Brown, who latched onto a low cross from the left to slot past the stranded goalkeeper.
Shakhtar fought back, though, as Denys Arendaruk restored parity just before half time when he low drive was deflected past the goalkeeper.
But the Blues were quickly back in front just two minutes after the restart when Dom Solankie rose above the Ukrainian defence to meet a Jeremie Boga cross to nod powerfully past the oncoming keeper.
Izzy Brown furthered Chelsea’s lead with a cool finish on the edge of the area, while Viktor Kovalenko bagged a late consolation strike.
