Streak is over as the Blackhawks fall to defeat to Colorado.
The Chicago Blackhawks’ remarkable 24-game run without a loss in regulation was finally ended on Friday night as they succumbed to a 6-2 defeat to the Colorado Avalanche.
The Blackhawks had the best ever start to a season in NHL history, while also setting a franchise-record during their 11-game winning streak.
Joel Quenneville’s men went 21-0-3 during the run but were left stunned by their opponents who scored five consecutive goals with four coming in the second period alone.
The regulation loss was the first for the Blackhawks since March 25 but will now perhaps allow them to continue their work towards a successful season without the pressure of maintaining their run.
