USAMNT and San Jose striker’s header secured San Jose victory.
Chris Wondolowski scored a header in the 55th minute to secure three points for the San Jose Earthquakes and keep them in playoff contention. Sporting Kansas were missing Graham Zusi and Kei Kamara and continued their losing streak at San Jose to 16 matches, however they do remain top of the Eastern Conference, equal on 39 points with the New York Red Bulls.
The breakthrough for San Jose came in the 55th minute when Steven Beitashour got underneath a heavy deflection to hit a volleyed cross first time into the box, where Wondolowski pounced to head home at the near post.
