Dutch legend escapes a possible 12-game suspension in Brazil.
In one of the stranger sports stories of the day, veteran Botafogo midfield player Clarence Seedorf has had his recent ban following a red card overturned.
The 37-year-old former Netherlands international was sent off while playing for his new Brazilian employers for not leaving the field of play the right way on being substituted – an offence that can result in a possible 12-game ban.
Having only ever been sent off once in his career at Ajax, Sampdoria, Real Madrid, Internazionale or AC Milan, it was certainly a surprise when the referee gave him his marching orders.
However, having had his case heard in front of Brazil’s Court of Sports Justice, Seedorf has now been cleared to resume his Botafogo career.
