Hornets spoil Irving return with comfortable win.
Despite 31 points from the returning Kyrie Irving, the Cleveland Cavaliers slipped to another defeat with the New Orleans Hornets running away with a 112-92 win.
Greivis Vasquez and Anthony Davis combined to devastating effect, posting up 25 and 17 points respectively, as a second-half onslaught was too much for the visiting Cavaliers.
The Hornets outscored their opponents 64-43 after the half-time break, sealing an eighth straight defeat for Cleveland despite Irving’s best efforts.
Both teams are already out of play-off contention, with the aim now to avoid finishing at the bottom of their respective conferences.
New Orleans face the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, while the Cavaliers are in Atlanta to take on the Hawks on Monday night.
