Cleverly vs Bellew 2 head-to-head: (Video) Feuding pair came face to face earlier this year.
Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew get back in the ring to face off in Liverpool on Saturday night, but their rivalry goes back years and came to a head in 2011.
It has been three years since the feuding pair last shared the ring, with Cleverly claiming a points decision to defend his light-heavyweight title in Liverpool.
However, months earlier the pair were involved in a press conference which went viral as things threatened to boil over as their dislike towards one another become public.
Although they appeared to share some mutual respect after their initial bout, Bellew was left annoyed and angry by Cleverly’s post-fight press conference in which he claimed it was an easy win and that he wouldn’t be giving his rival a rematch.
That is where Bellew insists his hatred for the Welshman was born, but ultimately it was clear that the duo were never fond of each other and this press conference proved it.
Although their fight never happened in London in 2011 due to Bellew failing to make the weight, they didn’t have to wait too long before they could lay a glove on each other. With just two more days to go until Cleverly vs Bellew 2, we can certainly expect some fireworks…
