Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen previews the 2013 NRL season.
Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen is hoping his team deliver for their fans this season, after a second half collapse last year saw the Sharks limp into the finals.
Injuries to the workhorse prop and fellow star Todd Carney was one of the reasons behind the Sharks post-Origin collapse last year.
An incredible workload took its toll on the captain and a snapped Achilles tendon left the Sharks without their two big names at crucial periods in 2012.
The Sharks will start the 2013 after arguably the best off-season signings in the NRL, with the possible exception of the Sydney Roosters. Adding Chris Heighington, Beau Ryan, Michael Gordon and superstar Michael Jennings to their line up gives the Sharks a back line boasting incredible firepower.
Despite such an impressive team on paper Sharks fans will still be wary of a end-of-season burn out which has been characteristic of the Cronulla team for recent years.
Since their preliminary final appearance in 2008, the Sharks have won just three from a total of 37 matches in the second half of the season.
