Mavericks hold on to seal vital win against the Jazz.
The play-off race in the Western Conference is heating up as we reach the final stretch of the regular season, with eighth place up for grabs.
The Los Angeles Lakers currently hold that spot, but following the Dallas Mavericks’ win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday, they are quickly closing the gap.
Mike James led the scoring for the Mavs with 19 points, as they finished the game with seven players in double scoring figures with Dirk Nowitzki contributing 17 points of his own.
Coach Rick Carlisle’s men are now level with the Jazz on 34-36 for the season, as they moved to within two games of the Lakers having gone 9-4 during March so far.
In contrast, Utah are now 2-8 in their last 10 games, as their season slump continues and it could prove costly in their bid to seal a play-off spot.
