Winning streak stretched to six games by the Blackhawks.
The Chicago Blackhawks sealed their sixth consecutive win with their 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars at the United Center on Monday night.
Andrew Shaw, Niklas Hjalmarsson and Marian Hossa all scored in the third period after Dallas rallied from two goals down to tie in what was seemingly heading towards a close finish.
However, as a result of their latest win the Blackhawks moved to 33-5-4 for the season, and became the first team to reach 70 points in the lock-out shortened 48-game season.
They moved 11 points ahead of Anaheim in the race for the top seed in the Western Conference, and lead the Pittsburgh Penguins by six points for the best points haul in the overall standings.
Following their record breaking 25-game point streak to start the season, it appears the Blackhawks are hitting form again just at the right time ahead of the play-offs.
