Having never played a down in the NFL, the Lions have signed Havard Rugland to a contract.
The Detroit Lions have signed Norwegian kicking sensation Havard Rugland to an off-season contract, having been impressed with his skills as a long-range place kicker.
They offered Rugland the workout this week after seeing his Youtube video, which displayed the Scandinavian performing a variety of trick-shots and skills that went viral on the internet.
Rugland will be competing with veteran kicker David Akers for the position that was vacated by previous kicker Jason Hanson, who retired from the league after spending his entire 21-year career in Detroit.
