Celtics clinch play-off spot with win on Wednesday night.
The Boston Celtics secured a hard fought 98-93 win over the Detroit Pistons at the TD Garden on Wednesday night, and clinched their play-off place in the process.
It is the sixth straight season Boston have made it through to the post season in the Eastern Conference, but they made tough work of it by almost squandering an 18 point lead in the second-half.
However, they ultimately held on to edge the Pistons out, with Jeff Green finishing with a game-high 34 points as his good form continues in the absence of Kevin Garnett.
Greg Monroe posted 24 points and 17 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for the PIstons to help turn the result around.
Detroit are already out of play-off contention but will hope to finish the season well as they travel to Minnesota on Saturday to take on the Timberwolves. With the pressure off, the Celtics host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
