Blackhawks seal series sweep over Detroit.
The Chicago Blackhawks clinched the Central Division with their 3-2 shoot-out win over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night, and also completed the series sweep over their opponents.
With the divisional race wrapped up, the Blackhawks will now be eyeing a strong finish to the season in order to tie up the top seed in the Western Conference play-offs.
They moved seven points clear of nearest rivals Anaheim, as they go in search of ensuring they have home-ice advantage throughout the post season.
Jonathan Toews tied things up late in regulation, after the first period ended goal-less. The hero of the hour though was Brandon Saad who scored in the fifth round of the shoot-out to seal the win.
Chicago secured the division crown for the first time since 2010, the same year they went on to win the Stanley Cup.
