Italy make great start but are slowly picked off by an experienced Dominican side.
Dominican Republic were able to come from behind to beat a strong Italy side 5-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the World Baseball Classic on Tuesday night.
Italy got off to a fast start, with a three run home run in the first inning, to give them an early 3-0 lead.
From there it was all Dominican Republic, as they shutout the Italian batting lineup and methodically picked off their pitchers, with Robinson Cano hitting the momentum-changing home run, mid-way through the seventh inning.
It was a great achievement for the Italians to get this far, and maybe on a different day, they may have been able to hold on.
