The striker sent out a statement after heading in the winner against Columbus Crew.
It’s the goal celebration that has ruffled a few feathers in Major League Soccer and divided Seattle Sounders fans.
After heading in the winning goal for 10-man Sounders in the 1-0 away victory at Columbus Crew on Saturday, striker Eddie Johnson can be seen visibly mouthing the words “pay me” in the direction of the executive suites while performing the ‘show-me-the-money’ salute.
Johnson is adamant his stats – a club-record 14 goals last year and seven in 16 matches this term – warrant new contract and increased salary and didn’t hold back in making a statement to the Seattle board.
