Teenager sang ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ before his match against DC.
A visibly emotional Tim Cahill was forced to choke back the tears as his 14-year-old son Kyah performed the United States national anthem before New York Red Bulls’ match against DC United.
The plucky teenager delivered a touching rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ in front of 17,323 spectators, including 200-plus Aussie fans, at the Red Bull Area.
The home side went on to record a 2-1 win over their MLS rivals with Cahill, spurred on by the feats of his offspring, scored the winning goal in the 38th minute.
