Goodison Park was absolutely ecstatic right from the onset with the Toffees showing a clear speed advantage over Newcastle United. With scoring woes plaguing the team, Midfielder James McCarthy got the game going at the 10 minute mark with a right footed shot from outside the box to the centre of the goal that was assisted by Romelu Lukaku.
Everything seemed to break Everton’s way, even when there was a fairly hard foul by Leon Osman that wasn’t even carded – though many thought it certainly wasn’t the good foul the referees called it as.
In the second half Romelu Lukaku netted a penalty kick after Yoan Gouffran fouled Aaron Lennon.
With Newcastle United already all but gone, Everton completed their perfect day with an injury time goal by Midfielder Ross Barkley to give them the 3-0 final score at the 90+3′ mark.
