Toffees end Olham’s FA Cup dream at Goodison Park.
15′ [1 – 0] K. Mirallas
34′ [2 – 0] L. Baines (pen.)
62′ [3 – 0] L. Osman
64′ [3 – 1] M. Smith
League 1 Oldham Athletics’ excellent cup run was ended by Everton in an entertaining replay at Goodison Park.
Kevin Mirallas got the Toffees off to the perfect start with a goal inside twenty minutes but the Latics never stopped believing, and but for the post and the referee missing a Darron Gibson handball, they would have immediately pulled level.
Everton though took control of the match before half-time, however, when Leighton Baines scored from the spot, despite a brave effort from the Oldham ‘keeper.
Leon Osman added a third in the second half.
Oldham left with their pride firmly intact, and Matt Smith continued his amazing cup run heading in a consolation.
Everton will play Wigan in an all Premier League quarter final.
