Turkish champions inflict a rare defeat on Jose Mourinho’s side.
Galatasaray head coach Fatih Terim said that he was proud of his players after they beat La Liga title holders Real Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League on Tuesday night, despite the fact that it was the Spaniards that progressed to the semi-finals.
Los Blancos had led 3-0 from the quarter-final first leg in the Spanish capital last week, but the Turks restored some much-needed pride by winning the return in Istanbul on Tuesday night.
However, with a 3-0 victory at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid still emerged victorious 5-3 on aggregate over the two legs.
