Thurston has slotted over a field goal in the 79th minute to send the match into golden point. Antonio Winterstein’s second try gave the Cowboys some hope and then Jonathan Wright scored on the left wing.
Thurston kicked the conversion and it was 16-17. Cooper Cronk went down the other end of the field earlier to score a field goal.
Then Thurston proved his class with a quality drop goal. Cool as you like, the Kangaroos playmaker took the pass and calmly levelled the scores.
It was a pressure kick that few players in the world of rugby league could carry out. But stars like Jonathan Thurston are very rare.
