A late header from Fiorentina star Marcelo Larrondo ensured I Viola beat Chievo Verona in Serie A.
Fiorentina’s push for European football continued in fine style with a strong performance against Chievo Verona.
They took the lead early, Manuel Pasqual scoring a magnificent free kick, and Chievo immediately attempted to get back on level terms.
Nicolas Frey and Felipe Seymour had shots in the few minutes after the opener, but were thwarted by crucial blocks from defenders and their own wayward shooting.
Shortly before half time though, Chievo got the reward for their endeavours.
Substitute Isaac Cofie slotted past I Viola goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano following a Roberto Guana cross, and the Flying Donkeys were level.
However, they could not hold on to their valuable point.
Marcelo Larrondo headed home from a set piece after being set up by veteran striker Luca Toni, and looked relatively comfortable for the remainder of the match.
