For perhaps the first time ever, a rugby player scored an ‘own try’ in an Australian National Rugby Championship match between Sydney Stars and North Harbour Rays.
North Harbour forward Mitch Lewis purposely touched down over his own try line, but the video referee mistakenly identified him as a Sydney Stars player, thus awarding the try.
Thankfully, the blunder didn’t change the outcome of the match, with the Stars wining by nine points.
